How Long Does It Really Take to Build a Website in Cameroon? (No Lies, Just Facts)

how long to create a website in Cameroon

One of the questions I get a lot from clients is:

“How long will it take to build my website?”

Short answer?

It depends on the type of website. But in most cases, it takes between 7 to 30 days.

If it’s a simple landing page, it could be ready in as little as 3 to 7 days.

If it’s a full business website with 5 to 7 pages, you’re looking at 10 to 21 days.

An online store or custom platform might take 3 to 4 weeks or more, depending on complexity.

Now, let me be blunt:

There’s a lot of nonsense out here.

Some developers will tell you they can build a full website in 24 hours.

Others will say your basic business site will take 3 months.

Both are red flags.

One is rushing to get your money.

The other is either incompetent or disorganized and your project will suffer for it.

So in this post, I’ll give you the real, no-lies timeline for website development in Cameroon.

Based on my own experience building websites for schools, clinics, startups, blogs, and small businesses.

Let’s break it down.

The Honest Website Timeline (Based on Website Type)

1. Landing Page (1-Page Website)

Timeline: 3 to 7 days

This is the simplest type of website. Just one page with:

  • An intro or offer

  • A few images

  • A clear call to action

  • Contact details

This can be done within a week, if your content (text, images, logo) is ready.

If someone tells you they’ll build a landing page in 24 hours…

It will either be full of AI nonsense, ugly templates, or missing important parts.

Don’t fall for it.

2. Standard Business Website (4 to 7 Pages)

Timeline: 10 to 21 days

This is what most businesses in Cameroon need.

  • Homepage

  • About page

  • Services page

  • Gallery or portfolio

  • Blog or news section

  • Contact page

  • Possibly a FAQ or Testimonials page

If the developer is focused, organized, and your content is ready, this should take 2 to 3 weeks maximum.

The delays usually come from:

  • Clients not sending content

  • Slow feedback

  • Developer juggling 10 other jobs at once

But if both sides are serious, 3 weeks is enough to build something clean, professional, mobile-ready, and SEO-optimized.

3. E-Commerce Website

Timeline: 3 to 4 weeks

For a full online store with:

  • Product listings

  • Cart and checkout

  • Payment gateway setup

  • Inventory system

  • Order tracking

You’re looking at 3 to 4 weeks minimum, depending on how many products you’re selling and how organized you are.

If you’re selling just a few digital items, it can go faster.
If you’re doing a full-blown store with 100+ products and variants, it’ll take longer.

But again, anyone saying 3 months for this is wasting your time.

4. Custom Web App or Platform (User Logins, Dashboards, Booking Systems, etc.)

Timeline: 4 to 8 weeks minimum

If you want something more advanced like a school management system, a booking platform, or a job portal then yes, the timeline will be longer.

This is because of:

  • User accounts

  • Data handling

  • Security features

  • Testing and fixes

But even then, unless it’s something super complex, it should not take 3 months to see results especially if you’re not working with a large agency.

Don’t Be Fooled by These Two Lies

1. “I Can Do It in 24 Hours”

No serious website is built in 1 day.

You can clone a template.

You can rush a landing page.

But a real site built to represent your brand, optimized for SEO, mobile-friendly, and designed to convert takes time.

Speed is good. But quality is better.

It’s your business. Why would you rush it?

2. “It Will Take 3 Months for a Simple Site”

This one annoys me.

If someone tells you a basic 5-page business website will take 2 to 3 months, they’re either:

  • Stalling

  • Overpromising and underdelivering

  • Or juggling your project while doing 10 others

There’s no good reason for such a long delay.

Most likely, you’ll be chasing them around and still end up with an average result.

What Affects the Timeline?

Let’s be fair.

Sometimes, delays happen.

But in most cases, it’s due to these things:

  • Client Delay: You don’t send your content (text, images, pricing, etc.)

  • Lack of Feedback: You take 4 days to reply to a simple design draft

  • Change of Mind: You approve something, then want it redone later

  • Payment Issues: You’re not paying on time, so the project is paused

  • Unclear Communication: You and the developer are not on the same page from the start

That’s why I always tell clients let’s be clear from day one.

If you want results, we both need to show up.

Wrapping Up

Respect the Process.

Building a website is not magic.

It takes planning, design, writing, testing, and polishing.

But it’s also not rocket science. If the developer is serious, you’ll see results fast.

So if someone promises you a full site in 24 hours, run you my brother.

If someone says they need 3 months for a simple site in this Cameroon, run faster.
